How do I cancel my subscription?
To cancel your TenseUp Premium or Premium+ subscription:
  1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad
  2. Tap your name at the top
  3. Tap Subscriptions
  4. Find TenseUp and tap it
  5. Tap Cancel Subscription
Your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period.
How do I restore my subscription on a new device?
Your subscription is tied to your Apple ID. Simply:
  1. Download TenseUp on your new device
  2. Sign in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase
  3. Open TenseUp → Settings → Restore Purchases
Your Premium/Premium+ features will be restored automatically.
What's the difference between Premium and Premium+?
Premium ($4.99/month or $49.99/year):
  • Unlimited AI conversations
  • All grammar lessons and role-play scenarios
  • Unlimited vocabulary words
  • Full conversation history
  • Ad-free experience
Premium+ ($12.99/month or $129.99/year):
  • Everything in Premium, plus:
  • Whisper AI speech recognition (works with any accent)
  • Advanced pronunciation feedback
  • Priority support
What is Whisper AI and why should I use it?
Whisper AI is OpenAI's advanced speech recognition technology. Unlike Apple's standard speech recognition, Whisper AI:
  • Works accurately with ANY English accent (British, American, Indian, etc.)
  • Better understands non-native speakers
  • More accurately transcribes speech in noisy environments
If you have a strong accent or struggle with standard speech recognition, Premium+ with Whisper AI is highly recommended.
The microphone isn't working. What should I do?
Try these steps:
  1. Go to iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone
  2. Make sure TenseUp has microphone permission enabled
  3. Restart the TenseUp app
  4. If still not working, restart your device

How does the AI conversation feature work?
TenseUp uses OpenAI's ChatGPT API to provide natural conversation practice. Here's how it works:
  1. You speak or type a message
  2. Your message is sent to OpenAI for processing
  3. The AI generates a contextual response
  4. You receive grammar corrections if needed
Your conversation text is used only to generate responses and is not stored permanently. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Why am I limited to 5 conversations per day on the free plan?
AI-powered conversations use OpenAI's API, which costs us money per conversation. The 5-conversation daily limit helps us keep the free tier sustainable while still providing value to learners. Upgrade to Premium for unlimited conversations.
Can I use TenseUp offline?
TenseUp requires an internet connection for AI features (conversations, grammar check, role-play) because these use OpenAI's cloud-based API. However, you can review your saved vocabulary words offline.
How do I reset my daily streak?
Your streak cannot be manually reset, but it will reset to 0 if you miss a day of practice. To maintain your streak, complete at least one AI conversation, lesson, or vocabulary review each day.
Is my conversation data private?
Yes. Your conversations are sent to OpenAI for processing but:
  • We do not store your conversations on our servers
  • OpenAI does not use API data to train their models
  • Your data is retained by OpenAI for max 30 days for abuse monitoring, then deleted
  • Your email, payment info, and device IDs are never sent to OpenAI

The app crashes or freezes. What should I do?
Try these troubleshooting steps:
  1. Force quit the app and reopen it
  2. Restart your device
  3. Make sure you have the latest version of TenseUp from the App Store
  4. Make sure your iOS is up to date (Settings → General → Software Update)
  5. If the problem persists, email us at jaccoperetz@gmail.com with details about when the crash occurs
Can I request a refund?
All subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store. To request a refund:
  1. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com
  2. Sign in with your Apple ID
  3. Find your TenseUp subscription
  4. Select "Request a Refund" and explain your reason
Apple reviews refund requests on a case-by-case basis. We cannot process refunds directly.
How do I delete my account and data?
All your data (practice history, vocabulary, settings) is stored locally on your device. To delete everything:
  1. Delete the TenseUp app from your device
  2. This will permanently remove all your local data
If you want to cancel your subscription but keep your data, follow the subscription cancellation steps above.
Can I switch from monthly to annual billing?
Yes! To switch:
  1. Cancel your current monthly subscription (see cancellation steps above)
  2. Wait for the current period to end
  3. Re-subscribe to the annual plan in the app
You cannot switch mid-period, but you can upgrade from Premium to Premium+ at any time.
